History of Michisakari from 1771

About two hundred years ago, sake was produced in Nada which is in Kobe(the main producing district )but most of it was drunk in Edo(Tokyo) which is five hundred kilometers east from Nada. This is because Edo was the capital of Japan with more than one million people. In other area, only local sake was drunk. Each local brewer produced their own original sake to match their local food.
Itfs said that Michisakari Brewery started to brew at our current location in 1771. At that time, the brand name was Maruo. At the beginning of the 20th century, our sake was renamed Michisakari ,which means gprosperity for three thousand years .h
